Burt Lauten Named the New Steelers Communications Coordinator

The Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers have hired a new guy to take control of the teams PR Department.

The Steelers have named Burt Lauten communications coordinator. Lauten takes over that position from Dave Lockett, who left the team in March.

Lauten, who has been with the team since 2005, had served as the team’s public relations/media manager. Before joining the Steelers, Lauten worked in Pitt’s sports information department, working with the Panthers’ football, baseball and women’s basketball teams. A Westminster College graduate, Lauten also worked for the Miami of Ohio athletic department.

“Burt Lauten has been a valuable member of our public relations staff for the past six years,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement. “I am confident he will continue to provide outstanding service to our media representatives in his new position.”

Matt Loede has been in the sports media for over 16 years, with experience covering the MLB, NBA, and NFL. On Sunday’s during football season, you can hear Matt on national networks like Fox Sports Radio, Associated Press, and others. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Matt studies and talks football inside and out, and is anxious to share his thoughts and comments with readers on a daily basis.

On a PR note who do we get ahold of now to make a request of the Steelers Organization for a worthy party? I keep getting run around since I’m not an organization. Here’s why, I came across a Marines post that he’s coming home after many yrs active duty (he and his parents are Steelers fans) and would love to surprise them at a game. Not being a multiple season ticket holder myself I can’t make that happen but I know GREAT PR when I see it.. This would make national news, go viral on social media, as well as further endearing the organization to the public/city/nation/Marines/Military.. If you can help at least point me where to point him in the right direction please let me know, he is a native son coming home that’s a reason for everyone to celebrate!!
