Steelers Restructure Contract of LB Lawrence Timmons

Cincinnati Bengals v Pittsburgh Steelers

Possibly looking to make more moves with younger players, the Steelers today created over three million dollars in cap space by restructuring the contract of linebacker Lawrence Timmons.

The team moved $6.63 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, meaning his new base salary for 2015 is $870,000.

The total amount the team saved is $3.32 million of cap space this year. Next season Timmons’ cap hit would be over $15 million, meaning expect the same thing to happen before the 2016 season.
