The Pittsburgh Steelers will hire former first-round draft pick Alan Faneca as an assistant coach this summer during the Steelers OTAs and minicamp.

Faneca was one of the best guards in all of football during his stint with Pittsburgh. He won rookie of the year and is a six-time Pro Bowler.
You may remember Faneca for one major reason. He opened up a big hole that produced one of the greatest runs in Superbowl history. Fast Willie Parker’s 75 yard touchdown run would have never happened if it wasn’t for Faneca’s fantastic run blocking ability.
This is a great move by Pittsburgh. When you have Mike Munchank and Alan Faneca on a team together, just imagine how much better this team is going to get.
It’s not like Faneca is a nobody. According to Bill Cowher early in Febrary, Faneca belongs is the Hall of Fame.
Cowher stated, “We knew if we ran left we ran behind him, if we ran right we pulled him. We always found a way to make sure he was at the point of attack when we ran a running play.”
“The guard position, he almost redefined it… He was a staple, he was a constant. He set the tone. He was a quiet leader on our football team. Without a doubt he was the heart and soul of the offensive line.”
If you’re someone who wants to put a bet on it at Betfair Casino – Faneca is a player that clearly did enough and deserves a strong look at being in the Hall someday.
I am truly excited about this coaching move and hope he stays around to teach young athletes the ways to become a professional and well-minded player.
