Pittsburgh Steelers injury report: Thursday January 5th 2016

More positive injury news came out for the Steelers today ahead of their AFC Wild Card matchup with the Miami Dolphins this sunday.

Stephon Tuitt, Xavier Grimble, Ladarius Green and Sammy Coates all were full participants in today’s practice. Green is still in the concussion protocol from a hit in a week 15 win against the Bengals, and his chances are looking very good heading into sunday.

One of the big names on the list is DE Stephon Tuitt, who looks to return to action after suffering a knee injury in the same Bengals same as Green, on the first series of the game. The return of Tuitt is very well timed for a Steelers run defense that has been hampered by injuries. Also the Steelers are facing Jay Ajayi who rushed for 204 yards in the Dolphins week 6 romp over the Steelers, the return of Tuitt will hlp this surging defense.

Sammie Coates is also set to return to action on sunday, recovering from a hamstring injury, but his broken fingers have not been healed yet, but it might be to little to late for the second year man of the University of Southern Mississippi. Between the return of Darrius Heyward-Bey and the emergence of Demarcus Ayers have seemingly left Coates of the mix.

On the Dolphins side of things, it looks like the team will be without number one cornerback Byron Maxwell for a fourth straight week, as he is still dealing with a nagging ankle injury. This is good news for the Steelers, Maxwell was a large part of limiting Antonio Brown to only four catches for 39 yards.

Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05, at the soon to be frigid Heinz Field.
