Safety Polamalu Ruled Out vs KC; Kirschke Out as Well

As expected, the Steelers will be without safety Troy Polamalu Sunday in KC, as he did not practice all week because of a left knee injury suffered last week in the loss to the Bengals.

One report says that Polamalu likely will miss the game next Sunday night at Baltimore. Polamalu sat out the Steelers’ second through fifth games with a ligament tear, only to injure the same knee during the18-12 loss.

Polamalu’s latest injury is to a different ligament. He wore a heavy brace as he watched practice this week.

Defensive end Travis Kirschke will sit out his third consecutive game with a torn left calf muscle. He had been filling in for Aaron Smith, who is out for the season with a torn right rotator cuff. Nick Eason will start again at left defensive end. Tyrone Carter will start at safety.

I have lost confidence in this football team. They are not a prepared football team on the offensive side of the ball. I think they will beat the Cheifs but it will be a struggle all day. The Steelers tend to play to the level of their competition. Offensively, they are not going to have a good plan. Arians will try and chuck it all over the field and be far to predictable with his running formations.

it pains me to be this negative but their track record of poor preperation and game planning makes me so. The Steelers defense will win this game in spite of Arians and the offense.

Mike, I can understand the frustration but there is really no reason to believe the team will struggle against the Chiefs. Unless of course the Steelers have a melt-down, they should control this game from about the middle of the 1st quarter until the end. True, turnovers can be the undoing of any team, but player for player, this Steeler team is light years ahead of the Chiefs and the Steelers are playing with a bit of anger now. I agree that Arians should try more balance, but because the Chiefs rank so low against the pass, expect Bruce and Ben to be throwing underneath the cover-2 ALL DAY! However,if the Steelers do establish the run, this game could be over extremely quick. I have to be honest, I think the Steelers cruise tomorrow. Lets hope I am not eating these words at 5 p.m

I wish I shared your optimism right now. We are more talented accross the board. However, in my opionion, games are won and lost by preperation and game planning. It is a theme that i have been hammering for weeks now. From an offensive standpoint, we are not a prepared football team. We do not adjust well to what the defense is doing. Arians simply will continue to throw the ball regardless of the situation and circumstances. I do not understand why Tomlin does not address this. There is no excuse for the lack of running. Arians does not want balance. balance to Arians is what they did last Sunday. We were never behind enough to abandon running game. Not running the ball at least 25 times against the Bengals demonstrates complete indignation to a successful formula.

The Steelers will win but the game will be in question all afternoon until the defense makes a play to end it.

what a joke. A+ talent with C- coaching. Lets throw the ball all over the field, turn the ball over, get our QB killed because we need to throw the ball 40 times a game. Can Tomlin fire himself? I know he can cut players and use that as an excuse. This is a sorry excuse for a football team. The only good news is that the steelers will have a nice mid round draft pick.

There were only four starters in the Super Bowl last year whom Tomlin either drafted or acquired…The rest were Cowher’s people…This offensive line sucks beyond belief…You’d think that WITH ALL THE PASSING, there’d be running lanes…but there’s not! It’s unbelievable! Yeah, Steelers, draft Sweed and all these skill players early and ignore the offensive line. Colon is garbage and so is Chris K. They all (with the possible exception of Max Starks) SUCK!!!! We are not making the playoffs this year and I personally feel that Tomlin should be refrained from being referred to as a “GREAT” coach until he starts winning with some of HIS players…And to all you guys out there who say, “Passing is the way of the NFL…” Look what it’s gotten us! A loss to an abysmal team like K.C. is unacceptable. You don’t work on the run in practice and it shows up in games…You wanna throw the ball all over the field but the highest draft pick on your offensive line is third rounder Starks! You need talent up front in this league. I think the Steelers recently went and tried to get too progressive and cute with the ever-changing times and load up on skill people. Pathetic. I am pretty much giving up on this team for this year and hope that in late April we draft an O-Lineman in the first round (actually we need a DB b/c Gay is well, gay…Oh, remember week 1 when Tomlin had Troy in on the field goal block attempt…Yeah the one where it wasn’t even a long FG which would cause the trajectory to be low thus making a block feasible…the one where it was blocked anyway but Troy, for some strange reason was on the field and had his knee rolled up on…Hey, Tomlin, how’d that brilliant decision work out for ya?!? Fuckin’ jackass!

Well Mike, I admit that you called this one! This team is atrocious. No repeat, no playoffs. This is what the defending Super Bowl champs play like? No excuses. Mike Tomlin and his entire staff should be ashamed. Yes, this includes Lebeau. The defense is soft, the offense shows no consistency other then “lets throw all day”. Troy or no Troy, that team should never blow a 17-7 lead in the 3rd quarter against the likes of the Chiefs. I know people are not going to want to hear this but, Season is over!Dominate statistically and lose to the Chiefs? Seriously, think about this Steeler fans. They cant win in K.C, how does anyone expect to win in Balt.N.E, S. Diego etc… Turnovers, penalties, lack of steady game plan. I dont remember the Pats,49ers or Cowboys ever defending their title with losses to a team like the Chiefs. Do you?

I keep thinking about the way this team prepares and appoaches each game and it infuriates me. Sometimes punting the ball is not a bad thing. sometimes field goals are not a bad thing. Tomlin said when he was hired he believed in attrition football. Well, twice this year we have lost games because we could not hold on to double digit leads. Punting the ball and playing defense is not a bad thing. Arians has tto much control over the game plan and they let Ben have too much say as well. We need to draft offensive and defensive linemen. If we do not turn the ball over on those three possessions and punt the ball instead, we win the game. miller’s pick was a fluke sure but the only way we lose that game was by doing what we did. make mistakes and give up big plays in the kicking game.

6 games left, we go 3-3 and miss playoffs. All because our coaching does not have the team prepared and because our coaching does not pay attention to detail. Like i said earlier, tomlin should fire himself.

From Champs to Chumps FIRE BRUCE ARIANNS!!!! play calling absolutely sucked. this is a bullshit loss and a total embarassment. way to go special teams another easy score for your opponent. also defense stunk up the joint 2 freaking plays for 76 yards are you kidding. this team lost on all dimensions of the game. I have given up weeks ago, after the 2 fourth quater meltdowns against cincy and chicago, I have not trusted the team since then to get the job done
