SteelersGab NFL Week Two Picks

PackSkins

Last Week: 11-5

Week two of the NFL season is here, and last week we were pretty solid, going 11-5, missing on Minnesota, Tampa Bay, New York Giants, Washington and of course – the Steelers.

Here’s our picks for week two, with of course our Steelers pick coming on Sunday when we do our official game preview.

PS: We went with the Pats in the Thursday night game (like everyone else), so we start the week 1-0.

Dallas at Kansas City – The Chiefs dominated the Jags last week, but will need to play even better to get a win over the Cowboys, who rose up to play well vs the Giants Sunday night. Tony Romo will be challenged by the Chiefs secondary, and I think the Chiefs pull off the huge home win. Kansas City 23 Dallas 20

St.Louis at Atlanta – The Saints D last week shut down the Falcons, and the Rams will duplicate that gameplan, but it won’t happen in the Falcons home opener. Look for Steven Jackson to have a big game against his former team, and for the Falcons to fly high to a huge win. Atlanta 27 St.Louis 13

Minnesota at Chicago – The Bears got a couple key turnovers to beat the Bengals at home last week, and this week will look to do the same vs Christian Ponder. Look for another good game for Adrian Peterson, but look again for it not to be enough vs the getting better Bears. Chicago 17 Minnesota 13

Cleveland at Baltimore – The Browns looked their usual awful self at home vs the Dolphins last week, and vs the Ravens they might as well not even get off the bus. Baltimore will punish Brandon Weeden and the Browns offense, and the Ravens will pick apart the Browns defense for a big home win. Baltimore 31 Cleveland 10

Carolina at Buffalo – Props to the Bills for keeping it close vs the Pats a week ago, as they played way better than many (me included) expected. The Cats were close as well to a home win, but fell late to Seattle. It’s basically a must win in week two for the Panthers, and I think they are just a bit better here vs Buffalo. Carolina 20 Buffalo 17

Washington at Green Bay – RG III just doesn’t look healthy, and it showed a number at times Monday night vs the Eagles. Aaron Rodgers will try to control the clock and keep Griffin off the field, and he should be able to pick on the Redskins secondary enough to get a hard fought win. Green Bay 28 Washington 17

Tennessee at Houston – I wasn’t all that impressed with the Texans a week ago, but I think this week they play better at home, while the Titans come off their high of the Steelers win and stumble vs Matt Schaub and company. Look for Arian Foster to go for 125 and two scores in a big Houston win. Houston 24 Tennessee 17

Miami at Indianapolis – A good matchup between the Fins and Colts, and in Indy look for Andrew Luck to be able to avoid the rush and lift the Colts to a big win to get to 2-0. Ryan Tannehill was able to pick on the Browns, but won’t have the same success vs Indy. Indianapolis 24 Miami 20

San Diego at Philadelphia – Boy Chip Kelly sure had the Redskins on their toes Monday night. In their home opener he should have the reborn Mike Vick and company ready to get to 2-0, as the Chargers played well vs the Texans, but got in their own way late. Look for an Eagles win with a couple big plays downfield. Philadelphia 34 San Diego 20

Detroit at Arizona – Look for the over in this one, as the Lions played well at home vs the Vikings, while the Cards fell to the Rams. I can see Carson Palmer and Matthew Stafford both going for 300+ yards, but I like the supporting cast of the Lions over that of the Arizona. Detroit 33 Arizona 28

New Orleans at Tampa Bay – The Bucs gave the game away in New York vs the Jets, but the Saints are a whole different ball club. Drew Brees should be able to put up big numbers at Raymond James, and the Saints should be able to get to 2-0 with plenty of room to spare. New Orleans 30 Tampa Bay 14

Denver at New York Giants – For sure a Manning will win this game. Get it? Yes it’s Peyton vs Eli in the Meadowlands, and with the way Peyton played last week, it’s hard to pick against the Broncos. The Giants put up points vs the Cowboys, but couldn’t get the win. Denver will once again score a lot and get to 2-0. Denver 35 NY Giants 19

Jacksonville at Oakland – The Raiders put up a pretty good fight while the Jaguars scored two points vs the Chiefs on the road. The Jags will play better, but look for Terrelle Pryor and the Raiders to roll to 1-1 with a big win. Oakland 21 Jacksonville 10

San Francisco at Seattle – A great Sunday night NFC West matchup, as the Niners looked excellent in their home win vs the Packers. As for Seattle, they did enough for a big 12-7 win over the Cats a week ago. This game could set the tempo for the season in this division, and since I picked the Hawks to go to the Super Bowl, I will stick with them here vs San Fran. Seattle 21 San Francisco 20
