A Call For Steeler Nation To Get Up And Cheer Vs The Ravens Sunday

SteelersFans

Steelers Gab has hopefully not only been an outlet for news and info for the last 7 years, but hopefully we are a voice for all Steelers fans out there.

Today we share an email we got from a reader, who is putting in a little “Call to Action” if you will, trying to put up Steelers fans for Sunday vs the Ravens at Heinz Field.

The gentleman’s name is Doug Bower, and here’s the email we got.

I grew up in Somerset County, just east of Pittsburgh, and I have been a die-hard Steelers fan for all of my 43 years. I currently reside outside enemy territory – Baltimore, MD. I have been fortunate enough to have gone to every Steelers – Ravens game since they moved from Cleveland, the “mistake by the lake.”

I need a favor from you and was hoping that you might be able to get some info out to fans before the game. My best friend, family and I are going to the game and want to bring back some home field advantage for our boys in Black N Gold. Over the past few years it seems like our fans take forever to get into the game. It’s not until the end of the game, especially close games, that our fans finally stand and rock the stadium when the opposing team is on offense. It pains me to say this, but Baltimore’s stadium is so LOUD when we are on offense…..the ENTIRE GAME. I can barely hear my Dad talking to me and he is only inches from me. Fans stand the whole time on while the Ravens are on defense and they don’t have other fans telling them to sit down. In Heinz Field, my best friend and I have been told to sit down during crucial drives when our defense needs us most.

Please, please, please….let’s start making it a tradition that we bring the noise and intimidation when the opposing team is on the field. The wine and cheese folks can finally sit when Big Ben is leading us down the field.

So, thanks to the Bucco’s and our amazing fans, we are going to steal some post season magic and try to make life miserable for Flacco SACKo on Sunday by chanting…Flaaaaaaaaco…..Flaaaaaaaco. When we sack him, we can change it to Flaaaaaaco…….SAAAAAAAAAACKo! But it shouldn’t stop with the Ravens, let’s make it a staple for Heinz and the fans.

From this day forward, I call upon the great STEELER NATION to STAND, cheer, shout and make life miserable for any opposing team coming into our great stadium and trying to move the ball on our D.

Thank you so much…..GO STEELERS!!!!

Doug

I so agree!!! It is time to bring back the fury to Heinz Field! We have some of the greatest fans on the planet but I think we may have gotten a little spoiled with recent success… Heinz should be an ominous presence for any opposing team and especially an offense led by (can’t believe I have to say it!) SB winning and MVP Joe ‘jump ball’ Flaaco!!! Get crazy loud and our D will feed off of it like the predators they are!!! It is easy to criticize the players and coaches when we are grinding out a season…but fans should be open to the same criticism too. These players are no different than us…they can feel the energy from the crowd and will respond! Too many times I have been at Heinz recently and I have felt like I was not at home…way too many people sitting and not even close to decibel level we can generate. I remember BEFORE 3 SB appearances in 6 years and 2 Lombardis the crowd was so damn hungry you could feel it…and I know the players felt it! Get up Heinz! And pleeeeaaaassse get loud again!!!! Don’t take any season for granted…and this one is far from over!
