How about Lito Sheppard?

Another cornerback is going to be on the market when free agency kicks off Friday, that being current Jets CB Lito Sheppard. Word is that Sheppard and RB Thomas Jones will both be released, meaning that both will be going to any team they choose.

So Sheppard is going to be available, and of course we all know that the Steelers could use a corner. So what do you think about Sheppard? He’s 28 years old, and has been with two teams, the Eagles and the Jets. In 104 career games he has 19 career picks with 3 touchdowns.

At 5’10, 194 pounds, he is a guy that could probably come right in and at worst be a backup. Question is what will his asking price be? I can’t believe the Steelers are not going to seriously take a long look at corners, and Sheppard is a guy that could be an asset to this team. Thoughts Steeler Nation?

I would like to see the Steelers go after Lito Sheppard or Dunta Robinson. Both could step in and be a huge help within the secondary. How much it would cost? Id say somewhere along 3 year for 15 mil to get this deal done.

I dont care much for the idea of bringing LT aboard even as a tudor. Theres no doubt he has lost a step– prob closer to two steps. The only positive I see in LT is his nose for the endzone around the goal line which we could definitely use. I just dont see LT being able to hit the hole hard enough anymore, so LT would be a waste of money.

If the Steelers were to go out and spend money on a RB, I would rather them find a rookie with blazing speed. We all know how the Steelers can find diamonds in the rough, I just dont think LT’s diamond is a clear as it used to be.

Did anyone watch the playoffs? Sheppard came in and got victimized by the Colts against the Colts 3rd WR. At this point in his career, I’m not sure he is much better than Townsend.

As for Dunta Robinson, he had a good year 3 years ago but has been inconsistent at best the past 2 years.

You may be able to get Shepard for “3 year for 15 mil”, but reportedly Robinson want a contract like the one that Nnamdi Asomugha got, which is one of the reasons why the Texans are not trying to keep him and he held out last year.
