The Top Five Runs in the Career of Steelers Hall of Fame RB Jerome Bettis

65O00K59-1

4. Bettis Rumbles Past the Cardinals for an OT Game Winner

The Steelers were in the midst of a dogfight with the game Arizona Cardinals in the 1997 season in week nine, a critical game as they sat at 8-4 and wanted badly not only to clinch a division but also home field for the postseason.

Turn to Bettis, who ran the ball 36 times for 146 yards and three scores, the last of which was a run that clinched the game from 10 yards out in overtime.

The key block on the play came from fellow Hall of Famer center Dermontti Dawson, but give Bettis credit for staying on his feet and pushing off a couple arm tackles, and barreling into the end zone for the game-winning score.

1997 was a monster year for Bettis, with the Cardinals game maybe being his best of the season.
